TIM HALL
Biography
Tim Hall’s racing career started in 1996 with a motorcycle track day at Sebring International Raceway. One visit is all it took, and within the next month Tim had signed up for a racing school to earn his amateur racing licence. Tim’s first sanctioned race was at Roebling Road Raceway in the SuperSport class aboard a Suzuki. He moved through the regional ranks to earn his Expert Licence in 1998, which allowed him to compete in national level races.
By 2002 Tim started competing in the Formula USA National Series earning his first National Thunderbike Class podium at Daytona International Speedway. With a busy race schedule, and increased success on the track, it was inevitable that new opportunities would arise. So Tim decided to compete in the Formula USA Team Challenge Endurance Series. Entering their first national endurance race during the 2002 season finale at Daytona International Speedway, Tim’s team finished on the podium in 2nd place on their very first attempt.
For the next few years Tim competed in both Regional Championship Cup Series races as well as the Formula USA National Thunderbike Series. By 2004 Tim started to receive attention as a consistent winner in the Thunderbike class, and was picked up by Jim’s H-D Buell of St. Petersburg, FL to compete on their Buell XB12 racebike. Later that year, Tim was asked by the Roaring Toyz Team to compete in the Formula USA Team Challenge Series round at Road America for a one-off event. The team took the victory in the GTL Class.
2005 lined up to be his most successful season, competing in the Thunderbike, GT Lights and LW Superbike Classes, Tim won the Thunderbike Championship as well as the LW Superbike Championship and was runner-up in the GT Lights class. These successes caught the attention of additional sponsors including the Hair of the Dog Energy Drink company.
After winning the 2005 Thunderbike Championship, Tim was primed for the new season and bigger challenges. Having raced a Buell for two successful seasons, Jim’s Harley Davidson of St. Petersburg’s General Manager Steve Greenstein, lobbied Erik Buell of Buell Motorcycle Company (Harley Davidson’s American Sportbike Division) to get one of the all new XBRR Superbikes that had just been developed. There were only 50 racebikes homologated, and Buell wanted to make sure that they would not be put on display or end up in collections, so Tim had to prove himself to the Buell Factory. Fortunately winning the 2005 Thunderbike Championship gave Tim the qualifications needed to get the bike.
After 12 successful seasons of racing, Tim decided to make 2008 his final race season. The season finale race at Daytona proved to be his most memorable experience in more than a decade of competition. Tim teamed up with the EuroMoto Ducati Team for the final race of the season, the Suntrust Moto-ST 8 Hours of Daytona. This race is considered to be one of the most prestigious motorcycle endurance racing events in the Unites States, competing with teams from across the globe for a grueling 8 hours and run on Daytona’s 3.56-mile (5.73 km) road course. Teamed with 2 other riders, Tim started the race for the team and would rotate for the next 8 hours. Working their way through the field of motorcycles, Tim and the rest of the EuroMoto Ducati Team finished on the podium. With Tim’s final competition before retiring from motorcycle racing completed, he could think of no better send off than standing on the podium at Daytona.
